The Story

WHY APACHE BRONCO EXISTS

Preservation begins when someone decides the pieces are worth saving and the history is worth handling with care.

The Foundation

THE HISTORY MATTERS.

Gillie K. Bear Heart founded Apache Bronco around one basic belief:

People deserve to know where they come from.

Family history does not always survive in one place. A photograph may keep a face. A document may keep a fact. A family may carry a story. Another record may tell us something different.

Our job is not to force those pieces into one perfect story. Our job is to save them, compare them, ask questions, write down what can be proven, and keep looking at what is still unclear.

Apache Bronco gives that work a home. It brings together family memory, written records, oral history, photographs, research, learning, and community.

The history matters.

The Responsibility

WHAT THE WORK REQUIRES

01Listen

Begin with the people who carried the memory.

02Document

Preserve names, photographs, records, testimony, and sources before they disappear.

03Verify

Keep proof separate from guesses, and keep known history separate from unanswered questions.

04Preserve

Protect what has been found so another generation does not have to start over.

05Carry Forward

Leave a record future generations can read, question, add to, and protect.
